GENERAL INFO

Heavy Lifting in C is a groovy conversational piece for bass trombone and percussionist. There are two main themes: the timpani theme which is more jazzy and edgy, and the marimba theme which is more atmospheric, defined by repeated eighth notes and spotty accents. The piece begins with the timpani theme, and moves to the marimba theme. Then in a role reversal, the timpani theme is heard in the marimba section of the piece, and marimba theme is heard in the timpani recap. The work ends with the explosive timpani theme once again in the timpani.
